Your organization field and mission

Vocational education.

Please tell us briefly about your role at your organization:

I teach math and human anatomy.

Your interest in STEM

During the high school years, when I took my first lessons of biology.

I have read with great interest the stories of some famous female scientists (like Rosalind Franklin, Marie Curie and Rita Levi Montalcini).

At present, some female disseminators ( like Beatrice Mautino) and a psychotherapist (Stefania Andreoli).

Your studies

Fill in some gaps in science subjects due to having attended a classical high school (so few hours of chemistry, physics and math).

Study and focus with great interest and curiosity , not only in order to pass the exams.

You at work

The school and colleagues are very attentive to students with learning disabilities or who are experiencing difficult moments, offering them the necessary support and tools. For the employees there are no specific initiatives.

Enjoying the loyalty of the students.

Continue to study in order to train themselves and be prepared, not only in their teaching subjects, but also in student management and searching for innovative teaching methods. Furthermore sharing and teamwork with colleagues is very important.

Your point of view

Helping them manage their time better (women are usually more involved in managing the home and, if any, the children) and avoiding overloading themselves.

To study, be prepared and gain work experience in the sector, without giving weight to the prejudice that it is an exclusively or preponderantly male domain.

That recruitment in the sector be based on meritocracy, preparation and interpersonal skills of the candidate, not on gender.

When interviewing for a job, avoid unpleasant, and illegitimate, personal questions (do you want to get married? do you want to have children?).

In addition, that there is absolute gender pay parity.

To finish with

Do what´s right and fear no one.

I want to motivate students, especially female students, for micro- and nanotechnology and encourage for more international exchange within the Master´s program.

In a place that makes me feel valued, where there is collaboration and sharing.
