My interest in STEM started at a young age, when I was at school. I used to like mathematics and programming very much, leading to pursue my career in computational mathematics.
Your organization field and mission
Under the direction of European University Cyprus, the Center was born out of the synergies that were found between the Decision Support and Systems Optimization (DSSO) Laboratory and the Center for Risk, Safety, and the Environment (CERISE). Our main areas of interest include the creation, application, and assessment of quantitative and qualitative tools for managing, communicating, and measuring risk as well as for analyzing, designing, and putting into practice systems and procedures for decision-making. Our research is centered on two fundamental pillars: risk and decision science, which are applied to a number of horizontal fields like cybersecurity, safety, and security.
Please tell us briefly about your role in the company / at your organization:
As a senior researcher, I am involved in EU funded projects and other scientific and research work. My research is based on risk analysis and vulnerability assessment models and methodologies, risk integration and propagation, risk evaluation and prioritization and development of risk assessment toolkit. My responsibilities include successful development and implementation of deliverables, preparation of technical documentation and project reports. Additionally, I present research findings in meetings, conferences and workshops and I organize the publication of research output in peer reviewed journals.

My high school computer science teacher served as my first role model, teaching me the joys of programming and showing me the value of tenacity and ingenuity in solving technical and mathematical problems.

Yes, the CRiTERIA research center stands out as a positive example in DEIS. The center supports diversity in its workforce and its initiatives aimed at equity and sustainability. The center promotes women in the research and academia by increasing motivational factors and promoting development opportunities.
I’m most proud of leading the development and implementation of risk assessment toolkit for risks and vulnerabilities which was part of a European funded project. This achievement can also be used for the risk management and decision support of various companies and organizations.

I see myself in a senior leadership position where I can mentor the upcoming generation of researchers, shape global risk management policies and practices, and spearhead important technological advancements that safeguard digital assets while also advancing inclusivity and ethical standards in the tech and research sector.
